Our History

MTS has existed in Salisbury for over 100 years, previously under the name Salisbury Amateur Operatic Society.

The society's major activity is to produce fully-staged and costumed musical shows but we also perform in concerts and offer workshops and social activities for members.

Our repertoire varies widely, from classic Broadway shows to contemporary musicals, as well as the much-loved Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

Our amateur performers are of all ages and levels of experience: some with many years in music theatre, and some who are newcomers to the stage.

We also have our own large store of scenery and costumes, which are available for hire. If you have an enquiry about these, please get in touch via our Contact Us page.

Become a Member

We love to welcome new members to our society. New members auditions are held twice a year, just before we start a new production.

If you are cast in a production, you will be required to give your full commitment to our rehearsals. Rehearsals are usually held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30pm to 10pm. We also have some Sunday rehearsals from 11am - 4pm, and more frequent rehearsals in the run up to a show.

Once you are a member of the society, you will have the opportunity to audition for all of our productions.

You will also have the opportunity to attend social events throughout the year.

*Members must be 16 or over, and under 18's must have parental consent.
